Ninthfloor.org provides shell accounts, email addresses and web hosting on a stable, secure, full-featured and well maintained Unix system. It offers a large set of general purpose programs and services. The project's mission is to provide an Internet accessible computing facility available to everybody for personal use, learning and experimenting.
The project is run following the values and philosophies of the hacker ethic that are standard in the hacker community. Its general principles are often summarized as: free access to computers; always yield to the hands-on imperative; freedom of information; decentralization; mistrust of bogus judgement criteria, such as degrees, age, race or position; world improvement.
We actively support Free Software and avoid proprietary programs, thus you won't find any here.
The system administration work is made on a volunteer basis (i.e. for free), but maintaining the infrastructure has its costs. It's only with your donations that the project can stay alive.
Ninthfloor.org relies on support of its users.
Our cryptographic certificates are signed by CAcert.org, a community-driven certificate authority. To get rid of warnings from your browser and email clients import the CAcert root certificates (both Class 1 and Class 3). There's also a good HowTo about this.
